Academic Excellence

The MYP years (Grades 6-10) help students make the transition through adolescence to become critical and reflective thinkers. This 5 year programme is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. The MYP includes core programs of (math, science, social studies and language arts), students in MYP are also required to take a course on design, a foreign language, physical education, and an elective (art/music).

Students in Grade 11-12 can pursue the IB Diploma Program (DP), or follow a BC Graduation Diploma path (Mainstream+).

These options provide flexibility as students assess their career goals and make well-informed course selections to provide the greatest avenue of post-secondary success suited for them.

Our graduates receive offers of acceptance from top post-secondary institutions around the world, with many graduates able to attend their first choice.

Student Spiritual Retreats (SSR)

Student Spiritual Retreats, which take place in September, are important for intentional relationship building within our school life and community.

It is an incredible and meaningful experience for many students spiritually, socially and emotionally.

Weekly Chapel Service, Worship Teams and CREW

Every week, there is a Chapel service for Senior School, led by worship teams from within the student body, or by special guests.

Speakers from the community and beyond share testimonies and messages from the Bible.

CREW is a weekly time where teachers take groups of students for practical help in self-assessments, time-management and personal development.

Athletics: Warrior Nation

Our Athletics Program is designed to introduce core sports and build fundamental skills at all levels.

Our Senior School “Warriors” learn about self-discipline, self-control and balance as they learn to navigate the pressures of athletics with all the other demands of life.

Sports include basketball, volleyball, cross country, track and field, badminton and floor hockey.

Fine Arts

Our Fine Arts Program develops our students to glorify and worship God through their creative and innovative expressions in visual art, band, choir and musical theatre. Students are given many opportunities to explore music through choral and instrumental instruction, and can participate in concert band, concert choir, and jazz.

In addition to concerts in the community, there are major performances throughout the year.

With visual arts, students are taught by specialist teachers to develop and explore their creative expression in many different mediums, and are encouraged to share and display their artwork throughout the school.

Mission and Service Learning (MSL)

Mission and Service Learning (MSL) focuses students on going into the entire world to make a real difference as Christ’s ambassadors.

By serving in areas of need, students develop a character of gratitude and appreciation, and encourage them to live their lives to serve others.

Recent MSL trips included trips to Guatemala, Indonesia, Japan and Sunshine Coast (2022-2023).

Student Council (SALT) and Student Clubs

The Servant and Leadership Team (SALT) is a student-led team that organizes special events such as ‘Dressfest’ in October, Christmas Days in December and theme days for the student body throughout the year. SALT members also attend weekly meetings, participate in leadership training and operate the foyer Café. Students may apply to be a SALT member in the spring for the following year, and are selected via interviews.

As part of enhancing student life at WRCA, all Senior School students are encouraged to initiate clubs such as Chess Club, Photography Club and more.
