Taught to put God first in all areas, WRCA students in Junior School (Jr Kindergarten to Grade 5) learn to worship God and enjoy His presence in a safe and wholesome environment.
Junior School is a vibrant and busy place. It is a rare day that is without an event, field trip, gym class, chapel, club, or learning creatively.
Students at the Junior School level are also encouraged to get involved in athletics, fine arts, and other co-curricular programs that enrich their learning experience.
At WRCA, we use the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), an inquiry-based approach to learning driven by the questions that both teachers and students generate. Students are encouraged to ask deeper, more intellectual questions to further develop their thinking to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them.
Mr. Goertzen loves being the principal of Junior School. He learns everyone’s name and visits with the students regularly, including playing guitar for them, challenging them in a chess match, four-square, or soccer. His talents and gifts working with children is a blessing to the school community.

Field trips are classes outside of our classrooms, where students can learn and grow by interacting within the various venues and outdoor environments.
With a combination of performance and choir, the Junior School presents an annual Christmas musical for the school community.
Getting involved in the dramatic arts while sharing a message of hope helps students build confidence and express their creative talents.
The WRCA Library is so much more than books! This is why it’s called the Creative Media Space. There are books in French, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian and other languages.
The Online Resource Library has easy access to National Geographic Kids, Storybook Online, Scratch, and more, and Makerspace is an area where students can creatively work with Lego, art, robotics and beyond.

Our athletics program for Junior School is designed to introduce core sports and build fundamental skills.
Besides gym classes for all grades, WRCA currently offers volleyball, cross-country running, basketball, soccer, track and field, and ball hockey as extra-curricular sports for older Junior School students.
In addition, all grades participate in an annual Sports Day and Grade 4 and 5 students enjoy ski days in the winter.
Every week, there is a Chapel for Junior School, in the form of music and Bible stories told through worship music, interactive performances, or puppet shows.
Grades are divided up and messages are age appropriate with the gospel and spiritual principles presented.
Camp 45 (for Grades 4 and 5) is a special year-end retreat, where kids, staff and volunteer parents spend a few days together at a Lower Mainland camp. It is a great time to build lasting memories and wonderful experiences, and a great event for Grade 5 students completing their final moments in Junior School.
