PYP Coordinator (50%)

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) at a White Rock Christian Academy, North America’s first Christian IB Continuum School. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in PYP leadership, a passion for personalized and effective learning approaches, and a commitment to excellence rooted in a caring Christian environment.

As a key influence on teaching and learning, the PYP Coordinator will collaborate closely with teachers and the school’s pedagogical leadership team to ensure seamless curriculum planning and alignment with the school’s mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the pedagogical leadership team to implement the school’s Strategic Plan and develop policies for effective PYP implementation.
  • Lead the school through a successful PYP External Evaluation process by gathering evidence of achievements.
  • Guide and oversee the PYP curriculum, ensuring a balanced and inquiry-based programme.
  • Establish systems for documenting the history and development of the programme of inquiry.
  • Support classroom teachers in designing, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on learning experiences aligned with the BC Curriculum and IB PYP framework.
  • Inspire and support teachers by fostering collaboration and encouraging innovative approaches to teaching.
  • Lead the integration and effective use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the curriculum.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular programs, with a focus on leadership and promoting student agency.

Qualifications

  • Certification with the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch.
  • Previous experience as an educator within the IB PYP framework (experience as a PYP Coordinator is an asset).
  • Completion of IB PYP workshops such as Making the PYP Happen, Role of the Curriculum Coordinator or Leading the Learning in Primary Years. This training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Experience working in a Christian school environment is a strong asset.
