School Themes

Reflecting our Core Purpose and Values

In order to be intentional about our school’s core purpose, values, and philosophy of education, we have determined that using an annual school theme will help ground our community in discussion about how to be committed to our Christian perspective of teaching and learning.

We inspire and cultivate citizens of Godly character who transform their world for Christ.

Our Core Values are CLEAR: Compelled → Liberated → Engaged → Anchored → Refined

COMPELLED: Glorify God through the pursuit of excellence - “For Christ’s love compels us” (2 Corinthians 5:11-21).

COMPELLED
2021-2022

LIBERATED: Honour passion, creativity and initiative - “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh, rather, serve one another humbly in love…” (Galatians 5:13-26)

LIBERATED
2022-2023

ENGAGED: Provide a holistic education from a Biblical Christian worldview - “Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength” (Mark 12:28-32).

ENGAGED
2023-2024

ANCHORED: Be Christ Centered – “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” (Hebrews 6:19).

ANCHORED
2024-2025

REFINED: Form resilient and mature followers of Christ- Refined – “We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope” (Romans 5:1-5).

REFINED
2025-2026

Each year, we select a core value, a scripture passage, and a theme, all of which are related and enables rich faith formation, pedagogic innovation, and cultural engagement as a Christian community.

The time we take to explore what we mean by a Christian learning community is significant because it encourages us to intentionally think about how we can be a learning community following after Christ together. In addition, the language we use to talk about Christian education gives us context so that we find ourselves learning and growing as citizens of God’s Kingdom as well as members of the WRCA community.
