Transformational Happenings!

By Cindy Louw | March 15, 2026

I can’t believe that nine weeks have already flown by since Christmas break! I’m so grateful for the partnership we share in shaping your children’s lives and for the incredible legacy we’re building together. You are part of a school that will bless generations to come! There’s been so much joy, growth, and momentum on campus, and I’m excited to share some of the highlights below. It’s so encouraging to see us praying, partnering, and celebrating together😊!

Each Morning: Each morning before school, a staff member will take a turn to lead our staff devotions. Recently, Mr. Weichel shared a line that has stayed with me: “You can’t transform your world for Christ if you don’t put yourself outside your comfort zone.” It resonated deeply, not only because the past twelve months have felt like one long stretch outside my own comfort zone, but because it captures so beautifully what we hope for our students. The character formation happening in their lives, while they are held in the care of our teachers and your family, creates a remarkable opportunity for transformation, not just in these formative years, but for a lifetime of purpose.

Jan 27: At Career Fair for Grades 10-12, guest professionals from the community shared valuable insights in various industries such as education, engineering, law enforcement, faith-based ministry, healthcare, business and more. Students were keen on learning more about the career options ahead of them to help map out their post-secondary future.

Feb 4: At our CESS (Christian Elementary School Sports) Basketball tournaments, our young Grade 6 and 7 athletes showed great teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day and did great, with first place finished for the boys (G6 and G7) and fourth (G6) and sixth (G7) place finishes for the girls.

Feb 11: The Junior School HUB got loud when the students cheered for Anders Johnson, son of Mrs. Johnson (Grade 4 teacher), as he speed-skated in the Olympics! Congratulations, Anders!

Feb 12: At our Grade 12 (Class of 2026) Affirmation Dinner, parents spoke words of life over their grads, celebrating who they are and who they’re becoming. It’s one of the most meaningful nights of the year, a beautiful picture of our community.

Feb 16: Who’s Came for Dumplings? Over 100 members of our community gathered in host homes over Lunar New Year to learn how to make – and enjoy – delicious dumplings.

Feb 21: Hearing that WRCA had been called back to the Surrey International Jazz Festival! The call came at 6pm and we needed to be there by 7pm. Families left restaurants, turned around on their way to night‑shelter shifts, and even got out of their pyjamas to get students there on time!

We ended up winning the Junior/Senior Jazz Band category – a very proud moment!

March 4: At the Staff vs Students Annual Basketball Game, student Tobi B (G11) sank a basket from half-court at the half-time buzzer! Wow!

March 4: All of our Junior School students enjoyed watching our latest puppet show, Barclay and Friends – Better Together. The script was written by student Chase L, with help from his mom and Mr. Goertzen, and twelve students did a fantastic job preparing and bringing the puppets and story to life. It is a lot of fun and a wonderful reminder that we truly are better together.

March 6: Neon Nights transformed the gym into a glow-party extravaganza for Grades 3-8. With neon paint, colorful decor, showers of confetti, lively music, and energy-charged kids, the event was a smashing success.

March 9-13: Service Week (G10-G12): At Service Week, our Grade 10-12 students have served locally and abroad! In addition to teams that travelled to Mexico and Japan, groups of students partnered with local organizations to support meaningful community initiatives. Their work not only addresses real needs but also encourages them to step into new environments, broadening their perspective and showing them practical ways to serve.

Other highlights:

  • Seeing a new Senior School student finish her “test drive day” at WRCA and meet her parents afterward with the biggest smile, saying, “I had such a fun day.” Go teenagers!
  • Praying weekly with WRCA parents and hearing their love for Jesus and their desire for their children to walk in His ways.
  • Grade 10 boys smiling so kindly and making conversation with grade 2 children while trying to sell beautifully made beaded bracelets to raise money for WRCA Service Week (Mar 9-13).
  • Watching the pure delight of children playing on the field. (Watch Video HERE)
  • And on a personal note, celebrating my son (who is graduating) being accepted into his top‑choice university.

Blessings on you and your family,
