OUR PURPOSE
Visit the LCMS
The WRCA Library is so much more than books! This is why we call it the Creative Media Space!
This includes:
Mother Tongue Books in French, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian and more!
Online Resource Library with easy access to National Geographic Kids, Storybook Online, Scratch, etc.
Databases that can be used at school or at home. This includes Gale, National Geographic Kids, Ebscohost, World Book Online, KnowBC and so many more!
In-class research support
Your Teacher Librarian, Mrs. Scheirer enjoys supporting teachers and students in the classroom! Lessons on plagiarism, research practices, note-taking and citation are just a few topics explored in the classroom.
Ms. Capdecoume enjoys helping the WRCA community with library questions and makes the LCMS a beautiful space.
Makerspace
Makerspace which supports changing modes of learning, encourages a culture supporting knowledge creation rather than knowledge consumption. Makerspaces facilitate cross-disciplinary and social learning through collaboration. Our Makerspace includes opportunities for students to work in STEAM (Science, Technology, Art and Math) Activities.
Volunteer opportunities
Parent and student volunteers are needed to help maintain the library. Go to "Parent Information" under the "More" tab for further details and some links to checkout!

Hello My name is Mrs. Scheirer. I have been teaching at WRCA since 2010. I have been a Teacher Librarian since 2017. I love being a TL because I get to support staff and students. I enjoy working with students on research and doing Makerspace time at lunch to promote creativity! Helping staff, with a variety of reading and research materials is a wonderful part of my job at WRCA. When I'm not here, you'll find me biking along trails, reading and playing at the beach with my family. Please come into the LCMS today. I'd love to help you!
Hello! I am Ms. Capdecoume, the Library Technician. I am so happy to be part of the WRCA community. I’ve been a library technician for 7 years at another IB school in Vancouver, and was a graphic designer before that. I live in the community and can be found frequently at the beach kayaking, reading or painting in my sketchbook. I look forward in being able to help you in the library. Come by the LCMS and visit with me and Mrs. Scheirer if you want to talk books or to just say hello.
