Great Performances in HS Track and Field

At the BC High School Track and Field Championships (June 1 and 2, 2018), WRCA won 7 medals and had three top eight performances! We had 17 athletes compete in the BC’s and most of our other athletes set personal or seasonal best in their events.

Yang Luo had four medals (all personal best and new WRCA records) with gold in the 100 m hurdles, silver in the 200 m hurdles and triple jump, and bronze in the pentathalon. Colin Murray competed in the Para Olympics and won three gold medals in the 100 meters, 400 meters and shot put. David Li came fifth in the shot put and came 8th in the pentathalon. Hannah Francois came eight in the pentathalon.

In the grade 8 boys 4×400 final, the team of Calvin T., David Li, Jared F, Yang L. and spare Nathan M, all ran 2 to 3 second personal best and came forth overall, shattering the old WRCA record by 13 seconds and ran 4:08.17 They just missed the bronze medal by 0.5 seconds.

This is the best our program has ever done in the history of our Track and Field program! Congratulations WRCA Warriors!
