Destination Imagination – Congratulations!05.28.18
Destination Imagination is a project-based learning program designed to complement K-12 education. Annually, there are six academic Challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning. In solving a challenge, students learn the creative process from imagination to innovation and the skills needed to thrive in school, their careers and beyond.
This year, WRCA sent three qualifying teams to the Global Finals (after making it through Provincials and Regionals): YUP – Youth Ultimate Performance, Seek and Find your Imaginations and The Know Brainers.
Congratulations to all the WRCA teams who represented not only the school, but along with other teams represented British Columbia and Canada. Thank you to the Team Leaders for their hard work and dedication throughout this year. Thank you to the parents that supported the leaders and their teams!
We are especially proud to say that one WRCA team placed third in the world for Service Learning at the Global Finals! Congratulations to Heather Friesen, Tanis Jorge and their Know Brainers team of JJ, Jordan, Owen, Faith, Rachel, Georgia, and Hannah! Part of their team challenge was to address a community issue. The issue they tackled was the need for socks with the local homeless population. Thank you to our community for rallying around this challenge by providing so many socks (3526 pairs!) this past winter!
We are so proud of all of our DI teams this year!
